I’ve decided to do two mini reviews today, and because they’re both Cinderella retellings it only makes sense that they’d be in the same post (: I also sadly had to DNF both of them.   The Stepsister’s Tale by Tracy Barrett Goodreads Purchase 272 Pages Release Date: June 24th, 2014 What really happened after the clock struck midnight?Jane Montjoy is tired of being a lady. She’s tired of pretending to live up to the standards of her mother’s noble family-especially now that […]

The Dark World  is a very difficult book for me to review. There were times in the story where I could easily give it 4 stars, and other times I could easily give The Dark World one stars. It’s because of this that I would take this rating with a grain of salt. Discussion Review by Larissa and Mel **There are no major spoilers (just very mild ones) that will ruin your enjoyment of the book. ** Larissa: Okay I just finished this book and I’m giving it three stars. Larissa: I found it to be quite mediocre compared with my […]

Some of the stories were a little bit more enjoyable and memorable than others though. Therefore, I will give a quick review of each to showcase my feelings towards each story. The Key By Rachel Hawkins,  a retell of Bluebeard I wasn’t sure of what to expect with Rachel, […]

Gee, I don’t even know where to begin. If you want a good mermaid book, this is not where you want to start. Heck, this isn’t even a mermaid book. This book for majority of the time does not even let us see the characters under the water signing Under The Sea–we didn’t even see the antagonist until the last few chapters. I can’t really give any recommendations on where to start with YA mermaid novels, truth be told, it has never […]

“Time’s ticking.” “Isn’t it always?” Countdown promised a lot. However it did not deliver as much. I feel like I’m slowly falling into a reviewing slump (therefore sorry for my lame review) so I think this review will be more effective in point form. And here we go… 1. The world building was narrow. I truly value the amount of world building in dystopian novels; it’s probably one of the most important elements in a dystopian novel. Hence immediately, my view on […]
