Cloudwish interview q

Hey guys! I have a super duper special author on the blog today – she’s one of my favourite Aussie authors of ever, and her name is Fiona Wood. She has written Six Impossible Things and Wildlife, and coming out on September 1st (TOMORROW!!) is Cloudwish. She writes the best contemporary novels that are just so raw and honest and real – and if you haven’t picked up one of her books, YOU ARE INSANE. GET YOURSELF TOGETHER AND GO AND GRAB A […]

It has been a long time since I’ve read a book featuring ballet so the synopsis for this book attracted me instantly. Unfortunately, this one turned out to not be my cup of tea. Why I didn’t like Tiny Pretty Things: – The multiple perspectives. It’s always a hard task to get multiple POVS pat down, and while I had no trouble distinguishing the voices of the three main characters, I felt no emotional attachment towards any of them. Charaipotra and Clayton’s novel follows three […]

Discussion Review by Melanie and Larissa *this review is spoiler-free*  Growing up, I believed in miracles. I guess I don’t anymore. Larissa: The author’s ability to immerse me in this story was incredible. I could definitely feel the claustrophobic nature of both the cult and prison setting. For me it elevated the novel in a way that can only be described as harrowing. Melanie: Yes!! I absolutely adored Oakes’ writing. I read it in one sitting because it’s one of those books that suck […]

I’d firstly like to point out that Emmy & Oliver is a really misleading title. While the title screams a romance-dominated story, I would say it’s anything but that. Sure, there is a hella adorable romance… but at it’s core, Benway’s story is one about friendship, growing up, making your own path in life, and more importantly, family.  “Sometimes love isn’t something you say, it’s something you do.” At it’s surface, this book is about Oliver who is finally found 10 years later after being kidnapped […]

Well. I have absolutely no idea how I’m going to review this. There is so little I can say without spoiling, but I’m going to try regardless. 99 Days is about Molly Barlow, who returns to Star Lake after spending some time elsewhere. She is not happy to be back, especially since just about everyone seems to hate her. The reason for that is that she did some… stupid things a while back. (I have to be vague about this, sorry guys.) And now she’s back, and she’s […]

This is a  novel that came as a surprise to me, I didn’t except to love it as much as I did. It’s been a couple months and it’s inarguable that this achingly true to life tale has has wormed its way deep, deep, deeeeep into my heart. Even now, I can still remember details about the novel and recall that truly captivating pleasure I gained while reading Mosquitoland. Mosquitoland: the thorn in my side, the rock in my shoe, the poison […]

Years ago, I walked into school and something was different. I was, as usual, a bit early for my classes (I like being on time) and slowly walked to the stairwell, my thoughts already with today’s lessons and my friends and the ridiculous amount of homework I still had to do. But the moment I left the lockers and walked into the hall, I knew something was different. There were only a few fellow students in that hall, and some teachers, wearing […]

Only read the first and last paragraphs of this review if you haven’t read Fire with Fire Burn for Burn and Fire with Fire are some of the best high school revenge stories I’ve ever read. Han and Vivian manage to create drama that doesn’t feel aimless or overly melodramatic and characters with incredible depth and growth. It’s safe to say that yes, I loved this series up until this very last instalment which has pretty much tainted my feelings towards the entire series. Words […]
