Admit it, you’re crazy in love.

1.Β You must own ALL the editions

THEY’RE MINE. ALLLLLL MINE.

2. Whenever someone asks you for a book recommendation you take that opportunity to rave about the book

Let’s be honest here; you’d rave about the book anyway.

3. And then you throw the book at them to read, of course

Read the book, dammit!

4. Everyone is sick of you fangirling over that book

But whatever, they don’t matter anyway. BUT THE BOOK DOES.

5. Though admittedly, sometimes you don’t wanna tell the world you’re in love with the book so you can have all it’s beauty to yourself

EVERYONE. HANDS. OFF.

6. You stay up late thinking about it

But like, there’s so much to think about! THE WORLD. THE CHARACTERS. THE MORALS. *fangirls*

7.Β Aaaaaand you mayyyy be having pretend conversations with the characters

I SWEAR. She had me checked twice from two different clinics just to be sure.

8. You rearrange the shelves at your local bookstore so that your pretteh baby is the most noticeable

What?! It’s in my job description. You can even go check.

9. You’d everything in your ability to win something that’s signed by the author

So maybe I’m a little desperate… BUT I NEEDS IT, OKAY?

10. Even your computer’s wallpaper (or twitter background) is the fanart

#OBSESSED

11. Let’s be honest, at least one of your book boyfriends/girlfriends are in said book

‘Nough said.

12. And well… you’ve made numerous friends through mutual love of that book

IF YOU LOVE THAT BOOK, YOU LOVE ME. PERIOD.

Is this you? And what recent book obsessions have you had recently?

  1. BEST. POST. EVER. And soooo accurate. It’s especially important for me to get ALL THE EDITIONS. I mean, if I really, really, really love a book… then how will only one copy of that book ever be enough!? πŸ™‚

    • Melanie says:

Haha thank you, dear! It’s so true though, I mean, I have about 4 different versions of Anne of Green Gables and I am not gonna stop until I have all of them (the pretty ones, of course)

  2. LOVE THIS POST. When you’re a booklover and you have a bookish addiction, especially for that *one* novel at the time which you love to pieces – it’s pretty easy to tick all these boxes. While I can’t say I do that exactly, I have been really raving about Spark by Rachael Craw recently, especially in light of the ‘Book Boyfriend Battle’ happening at Teencon2015! I’m team Jamie all the way.

  3. Oh my gosh, they are all soo true x’D
Whenever I go into bookstores and nobody is looking at me, I rearrange books xD I know I shouldn’t do them but they put on display the wrong ones, for God’s sake! It’s like they’re begging be to intervene u.u
And signed and personalized copies… GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! *-*

  4. I do not, ever, throw with books. It’s a horrible thing to do really. For the book. Also my money unfortunately doesn’t grow on trees so I can’t afford to buy the same books multiple times. And even if I had, it’s a waste of money because it’s the same book. I’d rather buy ones I don’t have yet. πŸ˜› Unless I had the Dutch edition and it’s a series and I want it in English.

  5. Great post – this is totally me! Especially the “you must own ALL the editions”. When it comes to Percy Jackson, you can never have too many copies.
Also, that wallpaper is the best!
I always love your posts about being a crazy Percy Jackson obsessed fangirl, because I can relate so much!
So, yeah…Percy Jackson is my obsession, too.

    • Melanie says:

Thank you Olivia! Hehe, I am glad that you agree. ONE MUST OWN ALL THE PJO BOOKS AND MULTIPLE COPIES OF THEM.

*fist pump because you’re a fellow PJ fan*

  6. Too funny. I don’t think I have ever beent that obsessed with a book as I am always hunting for the next great read. What is your current obsession?
Heidi@Rainy Day Ramblings recently posted…Review: Denton Little’s Death Date by Lance RubinMy Profile

  7. ABSJDJ! YES! I agree with these all so much Mel! I keep fangirling about PJ and all my friends keep yelling at me to stop and I’m like: “I can’t help it! It’s too amazing!” And I annoyed my best friend so much that she gave up and read the first book. (Which is saying something because she’s totally not a reader.) #NoRegrets (And she ships Percabeth, which is good because it means we can stay friends. *nods*)

AND HOLY HEPHAESTUS THAT WALLPAPER IS AMAZING. ♥♥♥ Love it so much. xD

Thanks for sharing Mel and, as always, fabulous post!

(You can tell I just went on a Percy Jackson binge-reread, can’t you? πŸ˜‰ )

  9. Love this post- and such fun, accurate gifs. When I really love a book, I really want other people to love it too. I know some of my friends don’t really have the same taste in books though- so I’m not always sure if I want to recommend the book to them. haha

  11. Bahaha! This post was super fantastic, Mel! πŸ™‚ Unfortunately for me, I don’t think it’s practical to buy all editions of a book (my mom would rather save up for tuition, yeah?), but everything else in this post is totally spot-on. I was grinning and going, HELL YES, THAT’S ME! while reading this post. <3

    • Melanie says:

Heeee thanks Aimee. Aw I totally see where you’re coming from! But I have no self control and I own way too many versions of my PJO books and all.

  12. This is quite possibly the most accurate post in the history of blogging. I do ALL of these things. Like, last week, I was in the bookstore, looking around shadily so I could rearrange the shelves, displaying the books I really liked better. That is messed up! But I do it πŸ˜‰ And the editions thing, SO true! I just ordered new Hunger Games editions because I want them ALL. AND I have a Hunger Games copy just to lend out on the off chance someone hasn’t read it! I mean, the obsession is real. I love this post!!

  13. I TOTALLY RELATE. I think…I think I am a fangirl. XDXD Omg, and yes yes to #5. I’ve actually had that, where I didn’t shove a good book at my sister because I loved it so much I wanted to protect it from her scathing reviews, ahha. XD (But, yes, I eventually relented, because I’m nice…maybe…4% of the time?)

  14. OMG your right on so many levels and I loved the BBT gifs. Love that show and they made me laugh out loud at work. I think realistically I don’t have very many favourites that match your signs, which is good. I have one that I will always recommend and have the copy for, the Loop series by Karen Akins, love it! LOVE this so much!! It is so true. I read a book at the beginning of this month that was just AMAZING!!!! Seriously. And I felt every single one of these. I would also add this one: “The thought of starting another book that can’t possibly compare to the one you just finished is heartbreaking.”

  18. Couldn’t agree more, especially with the pretend conversations! Seriously, I always wondering if I mad or not because I often have a pretend conversations (mostly with my fictional crushes, ofc) before I go to sleep.
    Anyway, great post, Mel! πŸ™‚

  19. Mary Claire says:

Mel, I think you just summarized the whole book and blogger community with one post! This is totally me for the 5th Wave series and the Septimus Heap series. I honestly think that book characters are technically real, because if the author who created them is real and you, the reader are real, then what stops both of your brains from bringing to life a character and loving them forever? Just my crazy rambling thoughts, but still, it’s cool to think about.

    Hilarious and fun post, girl!

Recommending books is so hard for me! I gush about books to my bookish friends so of course they want to borrow my copy.

    *blink* NO.

  22. Haha this post is so perfect!
#8 – LOL, yes!!! Gotta make sure that book is front and center. πŸ˜€
I also love to rave about it right away on Twitter…. I need everyone to know I LOVE THIS BOOK.
