I’ll be frank, I was not impressed by Brenna Yovanoff’s latest release, Fiendish. The author definitely has some writing talent–because her writing–particularly the descriptions–were gorgeous, but they did not make up for the cons. Three Reasons Why Fiendish Didn’t Work For Me 1. The storyline bored me to death. Honestly, watching a game of golf would be more interesting than this. At the start of the book, I was really intrigued and curious as to why Clementine was trapped in a cellar for […]

percabethwhy

If you know me, you know that I am a crazy Percabeth fan. To people who are going: “Who’s this Percabeth person?” “What’s Percabeth? Is it a disease?” “I’ve never heard of this book before…” or “Is that some kind of junk food?”  I feel sorry for you. You’ve clearly not met this glamorous ship that consists of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. If you haven’t heard of this ship before, I suggest […]

The Darkest Minds was one of the first ever books I reviewed on this blog. No, I’m not going link it up because it’s god awful and the only reason why I keep it on the blog is so I can look back and laugh at myself. I really enjoyed The Darkest Minds for the brilliant characters and world that Alexandra Bracken constructed, and Never Fade was just as fantastic. But, In the Afterlight seems to be a dud for me. Whether this is the reading slump speaking or not, I […]

The movie has been out for a while now, and if you want to read my review of the movie, click here. For me, The Maze Runner failed to keep me interested. Here are my reasons. FYI, there are spoilers so if you haven’t read the book/ watched the movie, please just skip this and read my last paragraph. 1. The main character’s a Gary Stu. So when Thomas arrives at The Glade, pretty much everything starts happening. He’s the first one […]

Verse books tend to be a hit or miss for me, and in most occasions, I’ve found myself completely sucked into the story, The Realm of Possibility is another one of those verse books that just work. I can’t pretend to know what love is. It just is. The Realm of Possibility is a bit like an anthology, for it follows multiple people’s lives–a different person per poem. The author particularly focuses the teenagers’ love lives and life problems. As expected of David Levithan, what’s more is […]

This is another book that I read on my hiatus way back in July, but once again, a novel that really stuck to the back of my mind. The Year of Shadows is a MG novel, and a particularly beautiful one. It explored some pretty dark themes–literally and non-literally, and had the best characters. I honestly loved all the characters in the end. The book starts with Oliva, and she’s had a really tough year–her mother left her without a word, and money started […]
