the gif tag

Like promised, we’re getting on with those tags! This is the GIF tag, and it honestly looks like so much fun. We were tagged by Amanda @ Book Badger. Rules are very simple, you sum up your feelings towards 10 books that the person who tagged you set for you in GIFs.

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

This has got to be one of my favorite middle grade series of all time. I LOVE IT OKAY. It truly has a special place in my heart: the characters, plot, Greek mythology… everything is wonderful.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

Since I actually haven’t read this series. *cough*

Yes! I love Julie’s work so this series was totally on my radar when it first came out. Kagawa returns vampires back to their terrifying roots in this series. Though the third installment left me a little less than happy, I still love this series as a whole. The first book was a great start into this world.

YES. I APPROVE. AND SO DOES STILES. A vampire series that’s actually good.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Maraget Stohl

Couldn’t get into this one at all. To be honest, I was bored and just didn’t care about anything.

Never finished this story. I really never got into it at all.

This was a DNF for me.

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

^ Me when I reached that ending.

Hahaha! Yeah that was my response to the ending of this book. I totally loved Dangerous Girls and was glued to the edge of my seat for the entire course of the book, all the way up to the very last page. This is a mystery thriller that I would recommend to anybody.

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Though it wasn’t one of my favourite series ever, I really enjoyed these books! I loved the imagery and Grimalkin, obviously.

I really did enjoy this series too! I swear, Kagawa is one of my favorite authors. This series only got better with each book, with the third being my favorite. I think you see the romance and characters grow so much. The world of the Nevernever is so creative and exploring it through the gorgeous writing is so much fun.

I was expecting better, TBH.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I don’t know. This one didn’t even have that much of an emotional impact on me, but it was just so sad and also quite beautiful.

Finally read this one, just destroyed me emotionally. Haha! I cried while reading this one.

It was emotional, okay?

Blood Red Road by Moira Young

I actually haven’t read this one, so…

Never read this one before, or really have felt convinced to do so. Oooops. Maybe I should give it a try though???

This book was awesome, end of story.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer

^ My face when I realized I actually kind of liked it. It was really, really slow-going, but yep, I liked it.

This one is huge. It’s also written by the notorious Meyer. The premise doesn’t intrigue me, and I’ve seen the movie and felt apathetic towards it. Not really looking to read this one when I got a huge TBR as it is.

I’ve been watching this one for a while now. On one hand, I hated Twilight, and I’m not sure if it’s just as bad, on the other I watched the movie and I didn’t exactly hate it, and wouldn’t mind reading it if it were a book. We’ll see…

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Sorry guys. I know there are loads of people out there who love this series but I just could not. Hated it.

I actually loved Clare’s Infernal Devices series. I also didn’t mind the first three books of the Mortal Instruments. However, the Mortal Instruments took a nosedive for me from the forth book on. It fell, fast. Which has left me quite confused on my feelings for the series.

Eeeh. I mean, I liked the book, but the rest of the series is just so bleh. So in a way, it’s tainted my feelings towards City of Bones as well.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT BOOKS I HAVE NOT READ. But yep, this one is definitely on my radar – it sounds pretty awesome!

This was definitely a solid sci-fi series. There were certainly some quibbles, but overall I really enjoyed it. Hopefully the same will apply to The Body Electric.

Curious…I definitely plan on reading it. But I think I’ll give The Body Electric a go first.

I agree 100% about Beautiful Creatures, it put me to sleep! Your GIFs have amused me greatly, I’m happy I can pretty much agree with most of these GIFs. And it’s amusing how most of you guys agree with each other!

  5. Ha ha! That was fun. I have read a good amount of the books on your posts and I have to agree with your opinion of most of them. I still need to read Dangerous Girls and Boys!

hahaha I love this post ladies, I for sure would find myself in the similar position of Celine, having not read a lot of the books listed, but I adored your guys reactions to them. I would have to agree with you on The Immortal Rules, that series was badass! And with If I Stay, I was an emotional wreck of course!

  7. I agree, Percy Jackson is the best! I liked your Tennant gifs. 🙂 I really liked Mortal Instruments (Though Infernal Devices is better) but yeah the last three books weren’t as good, but I liked the parts with Magnus and Simon better. And those are the only books on this list I’ve read. (and Daughter of Smoke and Bone on the list you made)

FINALY! People who didn’t like the TMI series!! I’m currently struggling through the series (waiting for CoHF) and it’s been pretty much painful the entire way.

  9. The Lightning Thief: I definitely agree with all your GIF picks, especially Mel’s! THIS BOOK. IT’S PURE BRILLIANCE. And that Percabeth! <33

The Immortal Rules: Also a glorious book. You have to read this one ASAP, Celine!

Beautiful Creatures: Okay, so, this one was actually one of my first gothic YA books, so it was no surprise that I enjoyed it. xD Things might be different if I try to read it again, which is exactly the reason why I won't be doing that.

Dangerous Girls: Spot on GIF, Larissa. xD

The Iron King: I enjoyed this, too, but the spin-off… not as much.

If I Stay: *lets out a breath* I actually didn't like this one. *hides* But the sequel was sooooo good. </3

Blood Red Road: *high fives Mel* Brilliant book! I haven't picked up the sequel, though. D:

The Host: I feel the same with Larissa. I watched the movie, thought it was meh, and even if I did enjoy Twilight (I only read books 1-2 but watched all the movies), I'm nowhere near interested in picking this one up.

City of Bones: Again, same thoughts with Larissa. TID was great (I didn't read the finale though), and I liked the first three TMI books, but books 4-5 were horrendous. I have the last but am not sure if I want to read it.

Across the Universe: YES. Great sci-fi trilogy overall, and I'm excited to read The Body Electric.

Awesome post, girls! Thanks for sharing!

I literally pinned all these gifs because THEY ARE JUST SO AWESOME. Hmm, I’ve only read Dangerous Girls, WHICH YES OMG THAT ENDING, and The Iron King, which I liked but then didn’t like the sequel. So yeah. ACCURATE GIFS ARE ACCURATE 😀

  11. Tari says:

Oh, I love this post! Your gifs are great 😀
Now I feel ashamed I haven’t read any of these books, except for The Host, to which my reaction was kinda like Celine’s: I didn’t think I would like it, but surprisingly, I did 😀

Percy Jackson: Absolutely spot-on GIFs to all three of you! I definitely agree that this is such an awesome middle grade series. (And Percabeth = my OTP too Mel! 😉 )

Beautiful Creatures: I think you three felt the same about this as I did. I felt a bit meh towards it too… :/

Dangerous Girls: *pauses for a moment of fangirling* Can I just say how win these GIFs are? (See what I did there?! 😉 ) Spot on to all three of them. This was such an intriguing and mind-boggling read and I’m glad all of us felt the same way about it’s brilliance.

City of Bones: Yeah…I felt the same way. 😐 It was definitely lacking in quality and execution sadly. 🙁

    Fabulous post girls! <3

  18. HAHAHA. Your gifs.

Celine: You really should try The immortal rules! I agree with Larissa and Mel: I approve of this series and she manages to make Vampires ‘new’ again.

Dangerous girls: three gifs that make me want to run to the store to get a copy.

The Iron King: I have the same thoughts. Wasn’t the best series, but very enjoyable. I love everything she writes.

Thanks for the tag! I already did it once, but you gave me all new titles so I might do it again 😀
