Mel

I’m feeling so conflicted right now. On one hand, I don’t want school to start, but on the other hand, THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS IS COMING OUT ON TUESDAY CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE YOUR BUTT, TIME? I NEED IT NOOOOW.

I actually went to the bookstore yesterday to see if they accidentally put it out early (shush, I know, but I was feeling particularly optimistic). And turns out, they didn’t but I asked the book lady anyway and she said “yeah” so she went to look for it but it wasn’t there. And then she went to her computer and checked, and it said that there was like 100 in stock. She got pretty confused so she asked her workmate and the workmate, who clearly knows the PJ books very well, said: “They’re not out until the 7th” And I cried inside. I WAS SO CLOSE, RIGHT?

Anyhoo, feeling pretty good because I’ve written A LOT of reviews over the past week and now I’ve got reviews scheduled in November *proud smile* But then again, Celine has reviews scheduled in March 2015…well then.

Celine

Mwahahaha I am still the queen of review scheduling. But Mel does have like 1000 reviews for my 5, so… I call it even.

Anyway. This week was pretty uninspiring for me book-wise. This is mostly because I am struggling through my Dutch required reading book which is moving veeerrryyyyy slooooowlyyyyy. And then Harper but up Lauren Oliver’s Vanishing Girls up on Edelweiss and ALL THE EXCITEMENT until I discovered I couldn’t actually download it *cries*. BUT then I did get The Ghosts of Heaven so all was well again.

Otherwise I’ve mostly been busy with… you guessed it… school. I feel like I’m repeating myself eevry week but it is what it is 😛 However, I only have one more week to go before autumn break (like spring break, but in autumn. Not sure this is an actual thing but just go with it). I am very very very much looking forward to that, because it will mean one week of things none of which have to do with school. *celebrates*

Larissa

Hey guys c: Celine is literally a review boss, now idea how she can just casually make reviews that are IN THE NEXT YEAR UM.  Then there’s me being a bad co-blogger and writing mine like two hours before the posted date. Oooops.

This week has continued my busy streak with work and school. I actually went to my first university open house this week which was cool. There’s just so many options available that it can be overwhelming. Nonetheless, I do have a rough idea of what I want to do so that’s  helpful. Except, I just don’t know where. There’s truly many so many choices haha.

Autumn break is not a thing here Celine. Wish it was! We can always use a break or two or twenty five.

I’ve actually been reading a bit more which is nice. Same goes with making discussion posts. It’s great to be slowly getting back into the swing of things. I also just finished Under a Painted Sky and adored it. How early is too early to post a review? Cause that book is out March 17th 2015 BUT OMG GUYS IT’S AMAZING AND I WANT TO SHARE MY LOVE.

Mel’s Book of the Week

I'll Meet You ThereI love love loved Something Real and some of my Goodreads friends have already read this and gave it 5 stars. So yeah, I AM EXCITEEEED.

Do you have a Halloween story/experience that you want to share?

As you know, Halloween is coming up! And this Halloween, we decided to do a week long event which is happening towards the end of October and we are currently asking for your help! So basically, we are planning to compile some really short stories or experiences of your past Halloweens. They don’t necessarily have to be those spooky ones where you saw something or something happened to you, but it can be something that you do for Halloween. It doesn’t even have to be special, I mean, I think many countries don’t really celebrate Halloween so we don’t really know what Halloween truly is like (well I don’t at least, lol.) I got a copy of The Broken Sun from Text. I haven’t read the first two novels, but I am thinking of starting them before the year is out! I also bought myself a copy of Falling Into Place because I absolutely love this novel to bits.

Also: MOCKINGJAY PIN! It’s sah beautiful.

The Ghosts of Heaven  Death Marked (Death Sworn, #2)  The Pretty App

The Ghosts of Heaven: EXCITEMENT ALL OVER. I’ve heard great things about all things Marcus Sedgwick, so obviously I HAD to have this. I really hope his style will work for me!

Death Marked: I read Death Sworn back in the day and while it didn’t blow my mind, I enjoyed it. I’m curious to see where this story will go! Also, fun fact: Death Sworn was one of my very first ARCs.

The Pretty App: So I actually haven’t read The Boyfriend App, but I don’t think this is a series so much as companions. I’ve been told you can read this without having read The Boyfriend App, so I’m very curious! From what I’ve heard, The Boyfriend App was adorable and fun, so I hope this one will be as well.

  3. HAHAHA Mel, I always hit the bookstore earlier than the release date hoping that on the off chance, some kind and loving soul accidentally put the book on display earlier than release :b SUCKS that you have school again :'( THE PAIN OF WAKING UP EARLY!!

Celine, I had the same sad, sad moment with Vanishing Girls as well. The TEASE =___= At least you have a lovely break to look forward too! Hopefully that will be fun 😀 I can’t wait to read your review of The Ghosts of Heaven. That one looks particularly good!

When I was putting in my uni preferences, I felt so so overwhelmed as well, Larissa! Suddenly the world was my oyster (not really because the world would cry if I did anything to do with science and maths. In fact, perhaps someone out there has banned me from touching numbers ever again). Hopefully that all goes well for you–it’s super exciting, isn’t it? 😀

I hope you girls have a good upcoming week! x

  6. Sounds like you three are having a great week. That story about trying to score the latest Rick Riordan book was too funny. Such pretty covers for your books this week. I am reading some great buzz on I’ll Meet You There. Have a wonderful week.

  7. wow, looks like you all got some awesome books. And I am so behind on scheduling reviews. Like, seriously. I really need to get on a bit more because I do have a lot ready to be reviewed and posted in October. It would be nice to not do it so last minute.

yeah, it gets pretty stressful for me when i do it right before i’m meant to post it. i think it’s totally worth going ahead so you can also read other books too!

  8. Jasprit says:

Larissa I am exactly the same, I really wish I was a lot more organised, I have a reading list of review books and when I should read them by, but this never happens! I definitely need like a week or two off work, I think I have a few days coming off, but they’re like next month 🙁 Oh I’m really excited about I’ll Meet You There, I agree, from my blogging friends, there seem to be some really praising reviews, I saw it up on Netgalley, but its only available to readers in the US/Canada 🙁 Anyway I hope you all have a wonderful week! 🙂

  9. OH MY GOD CAN I HAVE THAT MOCKINGJAY PIN? It is absolute perfection! I just love the novel of Falling into Place, it looks so pretty with the pastel shiny background.

I wish we celebrated Halloween in Australia, it is so much fun dressing up!

WOW Celine definitely is a review god, I mean reviews into next year? That is AMAZING! I don’t know what we would do without scheduling, it is the best tool ever.

Larissa hope you find what you are looking for with the university, it’s an exciting time ahead!

  10. YESSSSS I LOVE FALLING INTO PLACE AS WELL, so glad you got a copy, Mel. Lol Celine, you are a reviewing MACHINE. Good on you. Although Larissa, your technique is pretty much the same as me, lol 🙂 most of my blog posts are scheduled the night before. Geeez, I even procrastinate on the things I love doing!

  11. 5 stars for Under the Painted Sky? YAY. I can’t wait to read your review! I’ve been looking forward to that one.
Um, Mel, let me say that I think I like I’ll Meet You There even MORE than Something Real…. and that’s saying something lol. Both are 5 stars for me. I hope you love it!!
Also, I’ve totally done the same thing at a book store – I tried so hard to get them to give me Silver Shadows early but they wouldn’t budge. Damn. 😛

  12. What was the deal with Vanishing Girls? I was able to download it but when I refreshed my page it wasn’t there anymore. And that was like 5 minutes later! I got it on my kindle though and it works *shrugs*
I’m so excited for I’ll Meet You There!

It was so strange! I just got a weird message about not being “authorized” and the title isn’t available for download anymore. But I know others had the same problem. It’s awesome you managed to grab a copy though!

  13. OMG, Celine?!! YOU SUPER BLOGGER. I usually have reviews scheduled in advance…but pffft. Lately? I don’t even know what I’ve been reading. -_- Obviously not ARCs (which is all I ever review it seems) because I like have 2 reviews left. WHAT IS GOING ON?! Hehe.
Under A Painted Sky looks gooood! I’m definitely looking that one up. XD

*blushes* Thanks! But really I’m actually useless because though I have things scheduled for 2015 I don’t have anything for the coming 3 weeks or so 😛

  14. Stephanie B says:

Thanks for the shout out, Mel! I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO GET YOUR COPY OF THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS. Oh my word. Tweet me a pic as soon as you have it! I mean it. As you buy it. ASAP. Then we will fangirl afterwards.

I adore these posts, I look forward to them all week! This is my favourite “bookish” blog hands down. My sister and I were lucky enough to score a copy each of Blood of Olympus from QBD last Friday.. they knew it wasn’t on sale until the 7th, but they sold it to us anyway! Score! 🙂

    • Celine says:

Awww, that’s so amazing to hear!!! You’re making me blush and I’m sure Mel & Larissa too 😛 It’s awesome you got a copy of Blood of Olympus so soon! I bet Mel is super jealous of you, haha.

  16. Valerie says:

HOW DO YOU GUYS HAVE REVIEWS SCHEDULED ALREADY???? Except you Larissa you slacker. JK I’m a slacker too (we are all slackers). Anyways, I hope you have a super awesome happy reading week, BECAUSE THOSE BOOKS ARE AWESOME. I wanted Ghosts in Heaven, but got rejectedddddd because they hate me. hahaha. Well I have enough books to read anyways.

    SO YEAH. 😀 😀
