I HAVE A LIFE AGAIN. :O It’s the school holidays and I have EVERYTHING planned out. Basically, I will do all the homework these days then just binge watch TV shows (such as Sherlock and Hannibal), sleep and eat and read. In other words, PARADISE. Sorry for the absence on the blog, I feel like I’ve been rather ‘out of it’ lately in terms of reviews and blog posts in general (especially at my co-blog); so I will be taking a blog hiatus on YA Midnight Reads and just read some books I want to read and review a little more for Finding Bliss in Books. This hiatus won’t be happening until mid-next month though.

In other news, yesterday I got to meet Jaz @ Fiction in Fiction in Fiction and her book-loving friend, Angel! They’re so sweet and we had a lovely time talking books and life over coffee and at Dymocks on Collins St.

Celine

Hi everyone! I’m afraid nothing extremely interesting happened to me the past week. Last weekend was amazing, with our recital in an actual theater with actual people buying actual tickets to come and see us (seriously, we did 3 shows and they were all sold out! Of course there were mostly parents of everyone involved but still). The high you get from being on stage and doing your thing (dancing, when it comes to me) is just amazing and I wish we got to do even more shows.

Furthermore, I discovered the paperback of Shadow & Bone was like three euros on TBD, so I decided to go ahead and buy the entire Grisha series because everyone’s fangirling about it. I also bought Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe because apparently it’s beautiful and that means I want it. Also, I’m really really looking forward to the holidays which basically means uninterrupted reading time and FREEDOM.

Larissa

So I’m officially out of school now (: YAY! Haha, I’m still pretty busy with work though, they got me working full time now that it’s summer. It’s pretty hectic but my co-workers are awesome. I saw How To Train Your Dragon 2 with my best friend the other day and it was super cute. Toothless is adorable, okay?? [; Lol I personally love Pixar films, they definitely give me childhood feels all while being beautifully animated.

I’m doing this volunteering thing with my local library soon. It’s a reading buddy program for kids, so you get paired up with a kid for a week and you just read together. I’m excited for this as I’ll get to re-discover old favorites while also finding new great reads. I honestly don’t read much books other than YA and adult, so it’ll be nice to mix things up with middle grade and children’s books. Also, there’s just going to be adorable kids!  c:

This is random but sometimes I just get hit by the urge to travel. Like there’s just so much to see, explore and discover. Ahhhhh. I want to talk travel with somebody!

  2. A thousand pieces of you is STUNNING. Great idea to buy the Grisha series Celine! And such a bargain too 🙂 Yeaaaay, Mel, binge-watching Sherlock 😀 It’s only a shame there aren’t so many episodes, because it’s an awesome show. I can’t wait to see How to train your dragon 2 Larissa! And what a fun idea of your library.

Why thank you 😛 And yes, it was so cheap! I was just browsing around a bit and then I saw that bargain and I thought, this is a sign from the universe that I should get on reading these books already 😛

  3. So glad you girls are finally getting some time to yourselves with the holidays and such! Broken Strings and Landline look gorgeous Mel, so jealous of those! I really hope you girls start taking things easier, it’s not good to get stressed. Good luck with the reading and such! 😀

  4. So happy you’re on holidays Mel! Time for a break, right?!! HUZZAH. Mime is on holidays too and I have kindly planned out her life for her. I’ve also planned all the books she should read. Weirdly enough, though, she’s ignoring me. SO WEIRD. *ahem*
Ohhh, congrats on your recital!! And I’m SO glad you loved Falling into Place. I just downloaded it from NetGalley and omg, I’m so so so excited. 😉 I followed the author’s blog before she had a publisher, so it’s really awesome to see her journey.
Larissa: I’m 100% with you on Pixar Movies. I want to see HTTYD 2 soo sooo bad!! x)

Thanks!! And Falling Into Place was GREAT. Extremely sad and beautiful and I hope you love it as much as I did 😀 And that’s pretty awesome, that you got to see her journey 🙂

Also, I wonder why Mime’s ignoring you? What’s better than having books pushed on you?

  5. I know! A Thousand Pieces of You has such BEAUTIFUL cover. *drools* I have never read anything by Claudia Gray before so I think this is a really good chance to try her book! 🙂 Hope you’ll enjoy Landline! Rainbow Rowell’s books are simply AWESOME. <3 Glad you loved Falling into Place! I plan to read it. 🙂

Happy reading, Celine, Mel, and Larissa! 🙂

  9. Yay, thanks for putting my post up there! 🙂 Like you, Mel, I’m spending my days in complete and utter bliss. I really want to read Falling Into Place and A Thousand Pieces of You – they both look fantastic 🙂

  10. Wheeee! Mel, you can have your well-deserved break from blogging. Real life is way more important and we’ll completely understand if you’re going on a blogging hiatus. You’re not going to completely leave us, right? You’ll still be there on Twitter, right? ^^

Celine, it’s been a long while since I had been on stage. I think my legit solo recital for the piano was when I was in 3rd grade (I was so nervous I had to redo my piece three times IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY. I felt like crying lol), and then I had a theatre play when I was a junior in high school. Ah, fun times.

Larissa, it’s so awesome that you’re volunteering for that program! I wish we had something like that here in the Philippines. I’m sure there are but nothing has reached my ears. That or my social circles are just really small, lol. I hope you have a lot of fun, and YES traveling’s awesome. That’s my dream job. To be paid to travel all around the world. Haha.

I’m excited for it c: It works out even better because I need to do some volunteering for uni applications. And, at least this way it’ll be fun [: YES! Faye, let’s just pack up our things and be travel buddies. Okay? Awesome.

  11. Mel: Yay for school holidays! So envious right now because I want to just laze around without worrying about school, too. But oh well — good luck with finishing your homework, and I hope you get out of this blogging funk soon. I hate feeling detached from something I know I love a lot.

Celine: Congrats on the sold-out shows! I’ve only been in a play once and even though I had a great time, my role was so awkward (I had to play a man because there was no one else) that I don’t think I’ll ever perform in a play ever again. 😛 Glad you had fun, though — that’s all that matters. And YESSS I can’t wait to see what you think of Shadow and Bone! It is one of my favorite books EVER.

Larissa: Is it bad that I’m not really that interested in watching HtTYD2? *hides* I don’t know, even though everyone I know has loved it so far, I didn’t find the first show to be anything mind-blowing, so I’m not sure I want to watch the second one. :/

Anyway, hope you have a great week, girls! 😀

  12. Kelly says:

Hooray for holidays! I used to itch for the holidays when I was at school, then lay about and do nothing until the weekend before returning. You’re so much more responsible than I was at that age Mel, I was a delinquent really and hung around at the local shopping center, pool hall, trying to look cool but failing miserably. I’m reading ones that I want to read at the moment too, I feel like I’ve read review copies non stop for months now, so breaking to enjoy all my own books now. It’s probably one of the easiest ways to refresh and come back to enjoy blogging and reviewing again.

I can’t wait to see what you think of Aristotle and Dante Celine, it’s been one of my favourites so far this year <3

Sounds like Larissa has the travel bug. She may be whisked off to some foreign land by a Zac Efron look alike.

Also, if you need anyone to talk travel with I’m your girl. My dream is to visit every part of Europe.

  14. I’m so glad you got to meet Jaz, Mel! What an adorable pair you must’ve made. I was disappointed that Jaz’s Instagram photos were so small that I could SEE you.

Celine, I’m so, so excited that you are going to start the Grisha series. I hope you love it. YOU’D BETTER LOVE IT.

Larissa–I have had NO time to watch movies lately, and there are so many I want to see! DRAGON being tops on that list. I love that sound of this library buddy program you’re doing too, I hope you’ll keep us updated on that. 🙂
