Latest Happenings

It’s been a quiet week on the blog, and will be a bit like this for a while but don’t worry, we’ll get a little more organised in a few weeks to come! Anyhoo, something REALLY AWESOME happened and I cannot tell you guys until I come back from school tomorrow but yes, stay tuned. 😉 It has something to do with going somewhere next year.

I had NAPLAN this week, which is like an examination all Aussies in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 have to do. It’s a pretty easy test but I am prone to stupid mistakes and already know I made one in the numeracy calculator. *bats eyelashes*

Well, this was a bit of a strange week. Monday, I enjoyed my last day in Rome, which was awesome. Sun! Warmth! Gelato! Tuesday was travel-day. We got up way too early in the morning, took the bus to the airport, flew to Germany and took a bus to the Netherlands. That was less awesome. Cold! Clouds! Rain! Wednesday, we had the day off to recover from Rome, so obviously I planned to sleep in till at least 11 am. So of course I woke up at 7 am. Brain, what did you do to me?! Either way, Thursday and Friday meant back to school ;_; Though nobody got much work done because everyone kept asking us about Rome 😛 I’m not really looking forward to next week, though… They decided to bombard us with homework and tests and presentations, so you guys probably won’t hear a lot from me next week!

I’m still in Vegas as I type this haha. It’s been really nice and hot here! I actually have quite a nice tan going on. I’ve spent my time primarily by the lazy river and walking around the strip. I also got see a few shows which were cool. OH, AND I JUMPED OFF THE 108TH FLOOR OF THE STRATOSPHERE. It was like a bungee jump thing. Google the ‘Las Vegas Skyjump’ and you’ll see how crazy it was. I was a little nervous beforehand but the actual jump was actually really cool 😀

However tomorrow I’ll be packing up for the loooooong car ride home. I’m really not looking forward to coming home. I get back on Monday and then the next day have school and work. I’m going to be even more of a zombie then usual. Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things though, catch up on missed school work and exams (my physics final :o) and commenting on blogs regularly as I miss everyone.

Once I finish typing this I’m going out shopping. Hopefully I can find some cute things and something to get my best friend back home 🙂

Celine’s Book of the Week

Everything Leads to You

First of all: look at that GORGEOUS cover! This book sounds so good: it has a LGBT romance, it’s set in LA, it has a lot of film things and the reviews have been really good. I really can’t wait to read this!

New on the Shelves

~Thank you HarperTeen, TorTeen, St. Martins Press, HarlequinTeen Australia, Allen and Unwin Australia, Text Publishing Australia, Shirley Marr, Bloomsbury Australia and Penguin Australia!~

Love Letters To The Dead: SO PRETTY! I have heard so many good things for this book, I’m very excited to dig in.

Dangerous Creatures: Unsolicited. I’ve decided to read this even though I DNFed Beautiful Creatures because I like the sound of this MC!

Rebel: CANNOT WAIT. Loved Reboot, and this one doesn’t seem to be disappointing anyone yet 😀

Every Word: This one is for tour and I can’t wait to see what these two protags are now up to.

Fury: Sent to me from Shirley Marr herself! Isn’t that just awesome. Anyway, this looks gorgeous and bonus–it’s signed!

Preloved: Another pretteh from Ms. Marr.

Cracked: Haven’t heard of this one before but I might read it some time in the far future.

Chasing Stars: Rather surprised that this showed up in the mail after I sent a 1.5 star review to the publisher for After Eden. Oh well, not reading this anyway.

The Minnow: Probably the prettiest title I got this week! This won the 2013 Text Prize so I expect brilliant things.

~Thank you Harlequin Teen, Random House, Flux, Entangled Publishing, St.Martin’s Press and Adaptive Books!~

Six Feet Over It: I feel like this one will be a super emotional read. I may actually cry. It’s been getting high ratings so I feel like this one is super promising. I hope it lives up to my expectations!

Cinderella’s Dress: This one seems to be like a great mixture between historical fiction and a fairytale retelling. I feel like the addition of WWII will definitely put a spin on the classic tale. This one may be quite emotional too.

Deadly Little Sins: YES! So glad that I got approved for this one. I love the Prep School Confidential series, especially the lovely Anne Dowling. I’m doing a readalong with Mel for this one in July! I’m super excited 🙂

The Stepsister’s Tale: Another Cinderella retelling. This one seems to stick more to the classic story than the aforementioned though. I’ve actually started reading this one already so I hope it goes well for me.

Coin Heist: I’ve read other works by Elisa Ludwig and found them to be quite the fun read. The characters seem to be quite stereotypical, but I hope they end up breaking off of these typical traits.

Of Scars and Stardust: I love a good mystery and this story sounds like it could fit the bill. It also seems like a novel to be quite emotionally poignant. The novel also seems to have quite high ratings so far, I hope I feel the same way.

….I’ve clearly gone on a Netgalley requesting binge.

  1. Is The Falconer finally being released elsewhere?! I read the UK edition ages ago and really enjoyed it, despite the awful cliffhanger. I can’t wait for other people to read it too.
Have a great week, girls! And now I’m tempted to run to Italy for a gelatto. 🙂

Are you finally going to Rome Mel?! That would be amazing and you’d be so so happy!
Celine, I’m so glad you enjoyed Rome, and it’s going to take to get back into the swing of things, but you will soon. Larissa, you’re brave to do that jump, it’s madness, but you should be proud of yourself for doing it. You’ve also got fantastic hauls girls; I’ve heard good things about Love Letters to the Dead and Every Word so I hope you like them Mel and I’ve heard The Prep School Confidential series is liked too, so enjoy that Larissa. Is it a bit like Gallagher Girls, because I loved that and would like another series similar 🙂

Good luck with your school work, Celine! I'm glad you had an awesome time in Rome! 😀

JUMPED OFF THE 108TH FLOOR?! I walked around the 100+ floor of a building (and the bottom was glass and looking down did not feel good), but not JUMPED OFF IT. o_o

Awesome haul girls. Cracked is pretty good so far Mel, definitely don’t put it on the backburner just yet. Can’t wait to see what you think of Rebel, I think I even liked it better than Reboot. Callum finally decides to stop being so wussy. It’s awesomely bad ass. One blogger jetsetting around Italy, one jumping off buildings… Mel, you’ll have to try to tie these girls down 🙂
