What’s Been Happening Lately

Hey! This week was pretty exciting for YA Midnight Reads because we got a REDESIGN! We went for a lighter look, but tried to be true to its name simultaneously. I am in love with the colour scheme–it’s similar to the old one (purples and silvers) but much lighter and has a watercolour type of theme. I was a little sad to say goodbye to my boats but changes are always good. I made a post about the redesign here.

Talking about redesign, my bloggy friend, Emily @ Constellation Chronicles also got a redesign! In fact, it was her blog’s birthday! You all should go check out the new and fabulous look and wish her blog a happy first blogverse here πŸ˜€

I am no longer ill, but I think I passed my cold onto some other of my bloggy friends #sorrynotsorry *bats eyelashes innocently*

I am am hoping to attend 2 events over the school holidays! One is the PTALive Melbourne event. If you are participating, tell me and maybe we can meet up! This is where to RSVP.Β The other event is a Jessica Shirvington signing at Dymocks for her latest novel, Disruption. I think the details are somewhere on the HarperCollinsAUS Facebook page–but I don’t have a link. Sorry!

Also: Larissa won’t be around much for a few days because she’s going to Italy! Celine and I will be here, screaming in jealousy. She might do a recap though…so there’s that.

Updates for Finding Bliss in Books? None apart from old news. E.g: Ellis and I bullying each other and Blythe doing nothing about it. Ah…good times. Please note sarcasm.

Just Finished Reading

The Summer I Wasn't MeFantastic idea, executed to an okay standard–however it seemed to glaze over a lot of the issues that were written about.

Book of the Week:

Half BadI chose this book because I was squealing non-stop for a few mins when it arrived on my doorstep. One of my most highly anticipated books, actually.

Coming Up this Week:

– Review of Half Bad by Sally Green

– Review of The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton

-Review of Sea of Shadows by Kelly Armstrong

– Discussing Through Midnight (26)

Reviews on the Blog:

Received Books:

For Review:
43MMNTraded:43 MMN
Half Bad: ALL THE SQUEEEE

Origin:
Received from a book trade with Amy. I have heard a lot about the author’s latest, so thought TIIS one would by really good.

The Assassin’s Blade:
This is a pretty thick book for 5 novellas. Can’t wait to start this pretteh.

The Secret Diamond Sisters:
So Larissa did not like this one all too much and the other reviews I’ve seen aren’t convincing at all. Will probably pass on this.

~Thank you Harlequin Australia, Bloomsbury Australia, Amy @ The Reading Realm and Penguin Australia!~

Current Giveaways:

– None at the moment πŸ™

  1. Oooh, you read The Summer I Wasn’t Me? Shameless plug but would you be willing to join LGBT Month? I’m hosting it in April with Fighting Dreamer and you can find the details on my blog. I’m so excited about Half Bad now! I’m planning to either read it next or after the next book I’m reading. Don’t you just love the Aussie cover so much?!

  3. People have been getting really excited for Half Bad lately, but from what I’ve heard, it’s not too good, but I ma however excited to see what you think, it might encourage me to give it a go; I’ve kind of avoiding it at the moment.. I’m also very jealous of Larissa, I want a holiday! I also have The Secret Diamond Sisters and like you, I’m thinking of avoiding it, but I have to say, that cover is much prettier than the one I’ve seen around, so that’s a nice little thing. An exciting week ahead; congratulations on the redesign again girls! πŸ™‚
