discussing through midnight

This meme was created for YA Midnight Reads as a discussion post of all things bookish.

I decided to do a non-bookish post today and talk about the TV shows I am currently watching. This post was inspired by my co-blog’s post where Blythe and Ellis talked about their favourite TV shows. I won’t be doing my favourite ones, but all the ones I watch some TV shows that I am considering on starting. (Which are not many.)

Teen Wolf      Up To: Season 2 Episode 7   Rating: 4.5/5

Welcome to my latest addiction–Teen Wolf. I started watching this series on just last Wednesday when my school friends were ranting about Dylan O’Brien and when I read Blythe and Ellis’ TV post. I am quite a fan of this so far, a lot of shipping, action and even gory bits. Totally worth watching!

Pretty Little Liars    Up To: All caught up    Rating: 2/5

I began watching Pretty Little Liars around September, last year. I wouldn’t say I hate the show, but I am liking it less and less because it is just dragging way too much! Also, the plot is way too convoluted. The only reason why I am sticking with the show is because I want to know who -A is. If you like drama, murder mystery and romance, still worth taking a try!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic    Up to: All caught up    Rating: 5/5

Who doesn’t love MLP? I’ve been following the show since early last year and I just love it, okay? It’s a perfect show for young children as it teachers great lessons but also fun for older peeps like me 😛 I watch it with my sister most of the time (who is 7) and we are both nuts about it. I highly recommend this TV series!

Ravenswood    Up To: Gave up    Rating: 1/5

I gave up on this PLL spin off at episode 5 because I just absolutely hate how it interferes with Pretty Little Liars. HALEB FOREVER. Thankfully, they’ve stopped the show because not many people are enjoying it either. *happy dance*

Hostages   Up To: Gave up   Rating: 1.5/5

This TV series started off really well but soon got way too convoluted and unbelievable in it’s plot line that I just gave up entirely. This one is about a nurse’s family taken hostage before the day the President was meant to undertake surgery by the nurse. They tell her that she must kill the President.

Under the Dome   Up To: Season 2 Episode 1    Rating: 2.5/5

I am not a huge fan but it’s interesting enough to follow along with. Basically, a dome falls on a town and they are trapped inside. I really hope we get more answers in season 2. This TV series is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel.

Reign –Planning to Watch Soon

My friend cannot stop ranting about this TV show. Apparently it’s 10 times better than Teen Wolf and she loves TW as well so that’s saying something!

So what about you guys? What TV shows are you watching/planning to watch? Do you have any suggestions of what I should watch next?

28 Responses to Discussing Through Midnight (26): What I’ve Been Watching

  1. I haven’t been able to watch anything unfortunately (mom’s hogging the tv with cooking shows all the time, lol), but I used to watch Grimm and Once Upon a Time.

  2. I never watched TV series until this year and then I started Supernatural and I’m forever corrupted (a.k.a tooootally addicted). I mean, in the “never watched TV series” I’m not counting Little House in the Prairie. Because, um, no. -_- And I AM a Hornblower addicted. I’ve watched all the episodes several times. Hehe…I’m so weird, I know I know. I would reeeally like to watch more of Teen Wolf though. I’ve only seen like one or two episodes and the werewolf dude’s friend is seriously funny. I love funny stuff.

  3. Gah! Okay, since I live here in the Philippines, I don’t get a lot of opportunities to watch English TV series. I used to watch the older ones, like FRIENDS, Grey’s Anatomy and that stuff. I used to have a lot of My Little Pony DVDs, too, but I have no idea where they are now. :O Rainbow Dash’s my favorite, though. ^_^ I really want to try watching Teen Wolf, though! And my friend’s been raving about Reign! <3

  4. I need to watch Reign too! My friends rave about it too. I think they love Teen Wolf more though ahahahahah but still! Sadly, I’m that one friend who’s always really late on the bandwagon. >< When I say "OMG OK, I'LL WATCH IT SOON!" I actually mean "maybe I'll have time when the fourth or fifth season comes around?" I know, it's so bad! Right now though, I'm keeping up with Suits, Arrow, HIMYM and Revenge. All of which you need in your life. 😉

  5. Siiri loves Teen Wolf and she got me to watch it a couple of months ago. I really liked the few episodes I managed to watch, I loved. I gave up on PLL after the 2nd season. I was way too annoyed with the plot twists and it was bordering on unrealistic. Plus, I couldn’t deal with some of the romantic drama.

Ravenswood got cancelled? Yay! I hope Hanna and Caleb can be together again. I shipped them so hard and I was sad to hear that they made a spinoff with Caleb.
I watched all of the Under the Dome episodes and I quite enjoyed it actually, but I agree, there are way too many unanswered questions and Big Jim and his psycho son need to suffer. -_-

I watched all the episodes of Reign and I got bored after a while although it did start off strong for me. However, I hate all the love triangles and angst. I could do with less of that. I hope you’ll like it though. 🙂

Currently, I’m watching Bones, Suits and Once Upon a Time (because of Siiri again!).

  6. I don’t watch much tv, it clashes with what little reading time i have.
The shows I do sometimes binge on Netflix are Arrow, Nikita and Hart of Dixie.
I watched seasons 1-3 of PLL and was so annoyed that they still hadn’t revealed who the f A is. I LOVED Caleb and Hannah! Did they break them up?
I used to watch TVD but gave up on that too. Vampire Elena got on my nerves.

  9. Really the only shows I watch are sitcoms. I love How I Met Your Mother, Community, SOME of Big Bang Theory, Modern Family…all those sorts of things. My sister watches Teen Wolf and Pretty Little Liar, though 🙂

I’ve been watching Reign – I liked some of the things going on but didn’t love it. I like Once Upon A Time. And Resurrection seems pretty interesting so far.

MLP is pretty much the greatest show on television. For real. I’m a college student and my friends always think it’s weird that I watch it but it’s just so good… REIGN! You should definitely watch it! It’s amazing and the costumes are stunning.

Ooh love this post I’m a huge TV addict! Ok so..
teen Wolf: I’ve been going back and forth on my decision to start this one. I hear Blythe talking about it on Twitter pretty often and I can’t decide if it’s terrible or good haha. But you like it so I guess I’ll give it a try!!

PLL: Dude I totally loved this show at first but I so agree it’s going on FOREVER! I mean, we found out who A was like 29382187236 times and it ended up not being the “really really real real A” like for f*cks sakes!!! The finale this season was so frustrating. We were told we’d learn all but all we learned was that there are more people who have secrets. UGH!!

Ravenswood: LOL THIS SHOW IS SOOO BAD!! I watched until episode 5 and I just couldn’t. So badly filmed and I didn’t like any of these people. I also hated how it put paranormal inside a world that also has PLL! NO!!

Hostages: I’ve not watched this, but that lady actress looks like the woman from United States of Tara (which is a fab show!)

Under The Dome: never started this bc I heard it sucked.. So yeah.

Reign: I,ve been hearing about this show this week for the first time so now I’m getting intrigued! Will be trying it! 😀

  13. Great shows Mel, I’ve heard so many things about Teen Wolf that I feel like starting it soon. PLL is great it got REALLY good in the last season finale but yeah went downhill for the past few seasons. I hope we get some answers soon, it’s so frustrating how we keep on getting red herrings. I didn’t end up watching Ravenswood cos no Haleb no thanks. I haven’t watched Reign yet but heard good things. I’m surprised you haven’t watched Vampire Diaries, I think you would love it Mel!

  14. Teen Wolf: I keep seeing this everywhere. I need to hop on the bandwagon and start watching it, too. I feel like I don’t get a lot of reference these days:P

Under the Dome: I tried this not too long ago, but I’m not sure I want to continue.

Reign: A good friend of mine LOVES this one a lot. As in, she worships and adores it. I think our friends have good tastes 😛

As for me, I’m currently tuning in to Criminal Minds, True Detective, Sleepy Hollow, and now the 100, but only for weekly episode recap/rants on the blog, a feature I’ll be starting this Saturday… rants abound!!!

Thanks for this post, Melanie!! Let us know if you find any more gems.

Good choices!!!! Teen Wolf is one of my favorite shows.. I just recently started watching Pretty Little Liars about a couple of months ago so I’m kind of a little lost on what’s going on but liking it though!!! I thought Ravenswood was boring at first but I got into it later on in the show..

  16. Kelly says:

The only one I’ve seen of those is Under The Dome, which I really enjoyed. I hope season two isn’t too far away.
I love Revolution. It’s basically post apocalyptic science fiction. The world’s electricity was shut down, society fell apart without technology, law and order and what we take for granted. It’s brilliant, check it out. It’s on Fox 8 here.

But I love The Walking Dead. I’m only just starting season 4, and an author friend has me hooked. It’s unrealistically gruesome, lots of fake blood and gore. I can see that it might not be for everyone though, I’d class it’s a horror.

I’ve seen them advertise Teen Wolf on Foxtel, but need to get a hold of the first episode to see what it’s like, I’ve heard nothing but awesome stuff about it.

  18. I really need to watch Teen Wolf! I just got Netflix so I’ve been watching so many new shows like Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights, and all that kind of stuff that’s sort of similar to Teen Wolf so I’m definitely thinking about starting that show soon.

I completely agree about Pretty Little Liars, though, it’s so stupid because right now I’ve just stopped watching it entirely because in the beginning it was really good but now all they ever do is add in random show “specials” (like that idiotic black and white episode) and make out with random people. I’ve just given up on ABC Family in general because I used to LOVE Twisted and even watched a few episodes of Ravenswood but now all the shows are just so superfluous.

    Fantastic post, Mellybean! <33

  19. I still love PLL even though it is ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense. You did better than I did with Ravenswood, I gave up halfway through the first episode – it was terrible and I just want Caleb to go back and be with Hannah!

I have just started Reign, I’ve only watch one episode and it seems ok, it’s certainly not accurate when it comes to the history or the clothing, but it has potential.

I’ve also just started The 100 and The Tomorrow People – both are ok so far 😉

Siiri absolutely loves Teen Wolf, she has been telling me forever to watch that show, I think it’s about high time I jumped on the bandwagon, also I’ve heard brilliant things about Reign. I hope you end up enjoying it! Thanks for sharing such a fun post with us Melanie! 🙂

  21. My sister really loves Reign. She’s a big history buff though. I don’t have time to watch a lot of TV because I work most nights during the week. However, I really love the show Elementary which places Sherlock Holmes in New York. That’s definitely a favorite.

DYLAAAAAN!!!! Gahh. He has made this season so friggin epic I can’t even. So looking forward to the next season and I hope we’ll get double episodes this time around as well not the half season’s worth like S1 and S2. Bring it, Jeff Davis! Haha. I feel the same about PLL. Like I don’t like the show per se, but I want some answers. The characters (especially Aria) have begun to get on my nerves so much that I just want to slap their pretty faces. I can’t deal with their stupidity, to be honest with you. Still don’t know why I just won’t give up on this show. Haha! I didn’t know about MLP but you sure make me intrigued since I love cartoons:) Lols! Caleb and that Miranda girl have no chemistry whatsoever and yes, HALEB. Like, why did you have to mess that up? *eyeroll* Hostages and Under the dome don’t really seem like my kind of things, tbh and I’m sorry you’re not a big fan. I loved loved loved Reign beforet he winter hiatus but after? It’s just so boring. Yeah, there are some great comic reliefs and awesome scheming takes place in every episode, but as a whole I don’t see the magic anymore 🙁 Which sucks since it was one of my favs during the fall. Anyhow, I watch a ton of show: Teen Wolf (obviously lols), Once Upon a Time, Revenge (which has gotten so boring lately), The Tomorrow People (which has become freaking amazing since the main character is not getting on my nerves anymore, yeeehaw!!), Star-Crossed (which I’m going to stop because it’s so bad that I want to claw my eyes out. It’s not for me for sure.. 5 episodes was enough to tell so), PLL (*eyeroll*), The Originals (which is kind of awesomesauce), Arrow (which was pretty darn good up until the couple of the latest episodes which have been rather boring), TVD (which I have become to loathe and I seriously don’t know why I’m still watching. going to stop after this season I’m pretty sure), Grey’s Anatomy (a forever favorite of mine), Scandal (which um.. I do like, but it’s not as good as it was at first), The Real World: Ex-plosive (haha, I watch reality TV which I’m not ashamed to say because they’re hilarious and full of drama and they’re easier to watch then suffer through a drama filled book. Idk. It’s entertaining. Plus I always watch The Challenges and since the participants come from The Real World seasons then I decided it’s time I catch up with that show as well since I stopped a few seasons ago) annnnd um.. Sometimes I watch Hart of Dixie which is soo adorable and funny, but lately I’ve been missing the magic. Hmm.. as of recommendations? I love Friends and Gilmore Girls and I’m re-watching these shows. I also want to start watching Two Broke Girls but I don’t know when I have the time. Probably during the summer lol. Great post, Mel!
