Nick Merrick is stretched to breaking point. He's trying to keep his grades sky-high or he won't get in to college. He's trying to keep his brother's business afloat or the Merricks will be out on the street. He's trying to keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his twin brother Gabriel - or he fears he'll lose his family. And he's trying to keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who is his 'girlfriend's' partner.

And then Quinn takes to hanging around his sworn enemy, and an Elemental Guide is counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. Storms are brewing. On all sides.

~Thank you Allen and Unwin Australia for hosting this tour!~

I have Brigid Kemmerer on the blog with an interview! Click here for my review of Secret.

If you couldn’t be an author, what would your ideal career be?

What’s funny is that I’m already doing it: I work in finance full time by day. I love working with people and numbers and I have a great day job.

If you could trade places with any other writer for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?

Probably Stephen King. I haven’t read many of his books (I’m a wuss :-P) but he just seems like such a cool guy. I’d almost rather spend a week WITH him.

Do you have a favourite Merrick brother? (Yes I know, tough question)

Oh, I love them all! I just love them in different ways. Chris is like a brooding son who needs extra hugs, but he doesn’t want you to KNOW he needs them. Gabriel just needs to feel like someone understands him. Nick needs someone to realize that he doesn’t always have to be there for everyone. And Michael just needs an equal, someone to confide in and talk to.

There are some fantastic female characters in the Elemental series. Is there one in particular that you have most in common with?

Thank you! I’m probably somewhere between Layne and Quinn. I never had the terrible home life that Quinn has (and I certainly never lived in a mansion like Layne), but I can identify with Quinn’s body issues and Layne always wanting to please her father.

Can you describe your workspace for us?

It’s my lap. 🙂 I have a home office, but when I’m really working (i.e., drafting), I do it anywhere I can sit down. I get a lot of mileage out of weekend days at Starbucks.

This or That?

Coffee or tea?

Reading or writing?

Earth, Fire, Air, Water or Spirit?

Probably water. Maybe fire.

My element is water as well. 8 years of swimming do that to you 😉 I love how all the guys are so different *shakes head at herself for not having started this series yet* I’m such a wuss because I haven’t read any of S. King’s novels so far lol. I really ought to give one a try since the movies–I don’t dare to watch those lol. Thanks for sharing, sweets!

  3. This is yet another reminder that I need to continues this series. I met her at a small book festival two years ago but she was so sweet and it was right before Spark came out so that was fun. It would definitely be so fun to be Stephen King, and yay for working both of your dream jobs! Thanks for sharing, Mellybean, fantastic interview! <3
