Today is the day! This post was originally going to go live in three days but I could not hold my excitement in any longer and rescheduled it to today. And I’m sure glad I did because I’m practically dancing and singing in excitement here.

Anyway. Who is this Celine, and who is this Larissa, you ask? Well, just below they have introduced themselves!

Celine's avatarHey everyone!

I’m so excited to be part of YA Midnight Reads! It’s been one of my favorite blogs from the start, so this is truly amazing.

So, you probably want to know a little about me. I’m Celine, a 16 year old living in the Netherlands. Some may know it as the land of cheese, tulips and windmills, but it really is mostly rainy (also, there are a lot of bicycles. A LOT.). Things that interest me are the English language, making art (which sounds much cooler than just ‘drawing’), animals and books (shocker – I know). I’m also very passionate about food – I love both eating and preparing it!

I read mostly YA and I will read a middle grade or NA from time to time. That isn’t very often, though: YA will always be my main love. Within YA, I read almost everything, except really scary books because then I can’t sleep. Seriously, I am a huge wimp. My go-to genres are definitely contemporary and fantasy (although I love a good dystopian as well). I’m a critical reader. If a book is amazing, then I will gush endlessly over it, but if a book is –in my opinion- the worst of the worst, there will be no mercy! *evil laugh*

I think that’s about it! Thank you Mel for welcoming me to YA Midnight Reads 🙂

Larissa's avatar

“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited.” -Sylvia Plath

The above quote really speaks to me and is a favorite of mine. I love reading books and can’t get enough. Each one is an unique adventure, told by a person who isn’t myself. They have their own voice and it allows you to in a way be somebody else, who may be totally different from yourself. There’s just so many possibilities. And that’s why I’ve loved reading ever since I was 10 and picked up the first Harry Potter book.

I’m not exactly sure what to say. Haha well guess I better start with my name, I’m Larissa. I’m Canadian. I’m 17 as of the 24th of January. I have two brothers, I’m in the middle child. I play field hockey and volleyball. I love to travel, definitely want to see as much as the world as possible. If I could travel to any time it’d be the roaring twenties. Supernatural is probably my favorite TV show. I’ve really been loving historical fiction lately. I’m an adrenaline junkie. I can spend forever on tumblr. I’m an Ben & Jerry’s addict.

Alright, I think that’s enough random information then even I’d like to read. I’m so excited to be joining this blog and can’t wait to interact with everyone. 😀

I am so excited to blog with these girls. Some of you know Celine from her own blog, The Book Shimmy. She’s been a good friend of mine for a few months now and thought it would be so fun to blog with her! I actually did not know Larissa until very recently when she sent me a crazily sweet friend request on Goodreads. Please note that she is a co-reviewer so she won’t be around as much as Celine and I. These two have already started working on posts and will officially start next week! Whoot!

And as a last note, I’d like to thank all the people who sent in an application. I did not expect so many and I took a lot of consideration into this. Also, huge thanks to everyone who RT’d about my search for a co-blogger(s) and all the people who even included it in their posts on their blogs! Love you all. <33

“Some may know it as the land of cheese, tulips and windmills, but it really is mostly rainy (also, there are a lot of bicycles. A LOT.). ” Haha. I didn’t know about the rain, but the rest? LOL. Let’s not forget the brownies 😀 My friends have gone on a class trip there and they all talked about THE brownies 😀 I love painting. Not so much drawing, but coloring and pating? Hell yes! Also, food? 🙂 I’m studying Food Technology and Product Engineering at uni, so we’re a match made in heaven, ha. Yay for reading contemps and fantasy–two of my favorite genres 🙂 Welcomeee, Celine!!

Oh, my first ever book that I read by myself was HP1 🙂 The twenties is an amazing era, I’d probably join you on a trip there 🙂 You play field hockey? That’s awesome! I used to go dancing. 10 years of that and 8 years of swimming. I have always wanted a brother, but I wouldn’t trade my little sister for the world. Welcome, Larissa 🙂

I hope that this co-blogging will work out great for all of you and I’m happy for you, Melanie! Yay for more and more people to talk books with 🙂
