So. How to put this? Grasshopper Jungle was weird. Weird, for me falls into three categories. There’s good weird, where you just love the quirkiness and originality, WTF weird, which literally makes you think: “What the fuck was that?” and Mel weird–where you act like me. Total psycho and creepy all at once. Grasshopper Jungle falls into all these categories. So yes, I guess the only word fitting for this book is weird. You’d think this book and I would be a […]

Today is the day! This post was originally going to go live in three days but I could not hold my excitement in any longer and rescheduled it to today. And I’m sure glad I did because I’m practically dancing and singing in excitement here.  Anyway. Who is this Celine, and who is this Larissa, you ask? Well, just below they have introduced themselves! ——— Hey everyone!   I’m so excited to be part of YA Midnight Reads! It’s been one of […]

This meme was created for YA Midnight Reads to showcase upcoming posts and hauls from over the past week. What’s been happening lately… Bonjour! I’ve had an awesome week–not necessarily in the bookish department but in the movies! I saw the latest Disney movie, Frozen and finally got around to watching The Book Thief. Both were fantastic, I loved how Frozen didn’t end up to be a romancey movie like they normally turned out to be. And as for The Book Thief, […]

I was really shocked with myself when I found myself not enjoying Unhinged. I practically devoured Splintered just a few months ago, so my change in tastes could not be the reason for why I wanted to DNF this sequel. I know I’ve been writing my reviews in a dot-point format (which is probably suggesting that I’m falling into a review slump–thank god I have recently chosen two co-bloggers to help me) a lot lately however it seems the only conventional way […]

This is how they will go. This is how she will go: on. The light almost speaking, and March halfway gone, the green fields beyond, and the staying. Jenny Hubbard is a fantastic writer. I’ll give her that. She can form sentences out of nowhere and still make it sound poetic and beautiful and grand. The poems that are inserted here and there are just another example of her talent. I really wanted to love And We Stay because of that. The […]

Sobbing. Sobbing. 2 hours later. Eating chocolate that Eileen sent via the internet. Thinks of Me Since You. Starts sobbing again. ——— Well that sucked. Not the book, but the fact that I had to hold in all my tears as I read this book on the train and at the state library. Trust me people; there were a lot of tears wanting to fall. Right now, I just want to sit in a hole with my chocolate and ice-cream and blanket […]

Don’t let my rating sway you. Secret, the fourth instalment to the Elemental series was another brilliant read; however there are a few quibbles here and there that I have discovered in hindsight. Perhaps I’m being too picky? But I can’t seem to lower my expectations on a Kemmerer book no matter how hard I try—most likely because I know how fantastically well she can write—especially after Spirit—and as for Secret in my opinion, this book could’ve been so much better. We’ve […]

This meme was created for YA Midnight Reads to showcase upcoming posts and hauls from over the past week. What’s been happening lately… Heeey people! Midnight Madness is back!
