Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.

Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.

One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.

  1. Not sure about this one. I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews.. 😐
Plus, I’m SUPER picky when it comes to contemporaries. I only read them once in a blue moon.

Well, the cover really seems enticing. I would love to have one, if given the opportunity, especially since that it’s contempo. It has a cliche plot line.. but, I am still curious about it.

  4. _Sandra_ says:

If not for anything else, I’ll read this book ’cause of its cover. It’s super cute!!! 🙂 I have to say, I’ve heard some mixed reviews about it, that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Guess, I’ll have to see it for myself.

  5. Chanpreet says:

I’ve seen mixed early reviews for this book. I look forward to reading it for myself and finding out if I like it or not.

  6. Still contemplating on reading this one. Not sure if I can like it and it’ll be super awkward of I don’t like it. Promise of Amazing? I hope.

  7. I hope you liked this book! I really liked the characters because they kind of reminded me of a high school romance 🙂

I wasn’t a fan of it, TBH. Wren felt awfully bland and I sometimes did not get her logic and Grayson…it’s like his looks was an excuse for everything. Just not my type of book 🙁

  8. Anj says:

Not sure about this book yet but the cover looks great so i might give this a try. 🙂

  9. I have this for review. My fingers are crossed for a cute, sweet little read.

  11. Thanks for posting hun, it sounds like another cute contemporary but seems like there’s HEAPS of those out at the moment.

  12. Charlotte says:

Just read this last October. The premise is really cute but after reading the whole story, it was brewing a pot of meh and an eyerolling instalove. Promise of Amazing indeed. Le sigh. Oh well, I am still not giving up on contemporaries though.

And I hope this one worked out for you, Mel.

  13. Joanna V says:

Hm, you gave it a two star review? I guess it’s not for everyone. It might not be something special, but a lot of people have said that it’s a cute story. Maybe a light weekend read? I’ve been reading a lot of dark contemporary, so I’m not sure how I’d react to this one, haha

I’m not sure I’d like this one as much. I have seen some reviews and I think I expected too much. 🙁

  15. This book didn’t work for me. I hope that other people like it more than I did. I just was annoyed by the characters and the insta-love was ridiculous. I just can’t get behind a girl who will let a guy she barely knows (or knows well for that matter) continually lie to her and still want to be with him so badly.
