What’s been happening lately…
And here I am, in the Spring school holidays! That means more talking to my U.S friends as they’ll actually be able to talk to me in the more godly hours of the day. I also happen to be stacked up with homework from nearly every single subject I do which sucks big time.
Okay, so recently Goodreads posted some new rules and gunk as well as deleting inappropriate reviews or shelves from users that may offend authors. Personally, I haven’t had any shelves or reviews censored but I am finding this completely not okay. For many reasons that I do not which to rant about so I’ll just leave it as this. I will still be on Goodreads (it’s pratically where I live) but I have also created a Booklikes account so I can still keep in touch with my Goodreads friends that have gone off to Booklikes.
You can follow me here on Booklikes and I’ll follow back if you’re not a creepo.
Just Finished Reading…

This has got to be the most exciting books I have on my shelf right now that is a non-ARC. (That goes to Split Second.) Anywho, I was meant to read this for review last week but I was approved for a bunch of titles so I had to move things around quite a bit. Look at the cover! O.O

Oh, wow, that’s a lot of books! I’m super curious about The Sound by Sarah Alderson and All the Truth That’s In Me,but the rest of these look amazing as well.
And Bloodlines! I wasn’t crazy about the first book, but the rest of them were awesome. I’m totally into the series now.
HAppy reading!

The Little Prince *sqee* That’s one of my favorite stories ever and he was probably my first fictional crush. Awww it was so sweet. You’ve got some amazing things that I have no idea where to start. I hope you’ll enjoy Bloodlines and Anna π Great haul π

You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy them.
-I have never read Chantress; I bought it off your wish list since everything else I got you was just stuff I wanted you to read.
-The movie version of The Golden Compass was…I can’t explain it. It didn’t even feel like the same story as the book. The book is magical and epic and gorgeous. The movie is flat and boring.
-There are pretty good movie versions of The Last Unicorn and Stardust out there. Just so you know.
Enjoy your haul! You have so many books that were completely off my radar!
I’m not a fan of VA either (I gave up a quarter of a way through book 1, because Rose was grating on my nerves), but I love the Bloodline series.

WOAH you got so many books! I love love loved Stardust, you need to read that one ASAP! The Little Prince is cute and I’m so jelly about your copy of Heartbeat! As for Splintered, hurry up and read it! It’s amazing
I’ve only read Heartbeat, Girl of Nightmares, the Pullman series, and Splintered. But all these books seem so good!

Wow, I just heard about the Goodreads thing from Bekka’s blog. I always cringe at GR drama, because it usually gets way out of hand really fast. I’m all for everyone being more civil, but this does not seem like the right solution to me.

Goodreads is pretty much where I live too. I couldn’t deal with having to find something new or start over elsewhere. I’m definitely not okay with all the policy changes either, but as my reviews and shelves have always been just about the books or my reactions to them, I don’t think it will affect me. Anyway, some brilliant books for you this week! I need to get myself a copy of All the Truth that’s in Me. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it recently. I hope you enjoy Briar Rose. I loved Oliver’s previous books, but I haven’t seen the best rating for this one, so I’m a little bit worried about starting it. Have a great week, Mel!

I must read Splintered soon. I’ve heard only good things.
The Lucy Variations has a very awesome title *wink wink* Must read it!
Happy reading, Melanie!

“If you’re not a creepo.” Lol! Ah, Mel, you’re awesome. I have Splintered on my NOOK but I haven’t read it yet. I have to agree though, the cover is really pretty. You have one majorly awesome book haul there! Well done.

Oh no! I hope I don’t feel the same way as you did about the protagonist in Where the Stars Still Shine. I’m planning to read it this week so I guess I will know soon enough. I will have to make it a point to see your review of it.
Great haul! Briar Rose looks especially good. I have a good feeling that it’s a retelling ^__^ Have fun reading!

Dang girl you got so many books! I just heard about the change in policy today and I also just made a Booklikes account today. I see the potential in Booklikes. It’s just basically a bookish tumblr, but not as awesome as tumblr of course. Hope you enjoy all your books, Melanie!

Yay for spring holidays! I’m still stuck in school, and my holidays don’t come until the end of the year, so I’m probably even worst off than you are, homework and all. π And about the great GR debacle: I’m so disappointed in the administrators of that site. Letting a bunch of whiny authors and users who obviously do not know the meaning of the word “freedom” control how the site is run? Ridiculous. I know one of my shelves got deleted (because it was named something like, never-reading-this), but when I checked back again, it was suddenly there. Still, I hope the whole thing blows over soon, because Goodreads… it has a very special place in my heart, and I’d hate to throw a fit over some jerks who don’t know how to keep their emotions in check.
Rant over. Phew!
Oh no! I’m so sad you didn’t enjoy WHERE THE STARS STILL SHINE. It was a personal favorite for me, but I guess I can see why you couldn’t get into it. The star of the book was Alex Kosta. Ahaha.
SPLINTERED! I’m probably the only one left who hasn’t read it yet, and I feel so left out. Everyone’s saying how it’s such a beautifully twisted version of the original ALICE IN WONDERLAND (which I admittedly have not read yet), and that just gets me all excited. Can’t wait for your review!
And dude. That is one awesome haul. I think I’m going to have to publish this comment and get off your site before I lunge at the screen with grabby hands. π
