Hype has really been getting to me lately. Here is a list of books that I really need to read from all the positive reviews I’ve seen.

Shadow and BoneI feel like everyone has read this book but me. So therefore, I must have this book in my life!

2. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Under the Never Sky

Apparently this one produces a lot of gushing. I love gushing…yeah

3. Splintered by A. G. Howard

Splintered

I know a bunch of my bloggy friends are in love this this book. And I heard that there’s an enjoyable love triangle which makes me even more curious.

Golden

AHH This book is currently sitting on my bookshelf looking like a queen. It’s series the pretties cover I’ve seen that also turns out to be a good book! (or so I’ve heard)

So that’s me, what about you guys? What books do you really need to read?

20 Responses to Discussing Through Midnight (6): Books That I Really Need To Read

  1. I have yet to read a lot of those books too! I recently read Splintered and I LOVED it, so I hope that when you get around to it, you’ll like it too. The love triangle was only so-so for me – I clearly liked one of the love interests over the other, but the other one really intrigued me, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of both of them in the next book. I’ve heard really great things about Golden too, and I have it on my shelf though I haven’t actually started it yet.

    Great list!

I have Splintered sitting on my shelf as well! I really need to get to that sometime soon. You definitely should pick up Shadow and Bone and Under the Never Sky though! They were both amazing books that were hard to put down for me. I even liked Siege and Storm a little better than Shadow and Bone. 😉
I’ve been hearing great things about Golden, so I’m going to have to pick a copy up sometime.

  3. Great list hun, I actually need to read all of those books that you’ve listed! Out of all of those I probably want to read Seige & Storm the most. Actually haven’t read Shadow and Bone as well, so just that whole series. Being a busy blogger, our to read lists always get really long and we unfortunately don’t have time to read everythign we want to. I love the cover for Golden too, heard good things! Haven’t heard glowing reviews for Under the Never Sky though, but it’s sitting on my shelf. I guess that one can wait.

  4. I haven’t read Golden, but the other three I LOVED. Especially Shadow and Bone. I had no idea you hadn’t picked that one up yet! I feel like I should force you to now. 😉

I hope you enjoy all of these when you get around to them, Melanie. <3

Shadow and Bone! I have heard such fabulous things. <3

  6. Celine says:

I haven’t read Shadow & Bone either, although I feel like I should. Maybe we should do a readalong sometime!

I’m pretty sure you’d like Golden, so pick it up already! I’m not sure what you would think of Splintered and Under The Never Sky, though. I did love those two, but your enjoyment of Splintered depends on whether you like Jeb or not, I think.

Well, haha! Almost all the books you have on your list are those that I need to read too! Though I’ve read Under The Never Sky, and it was fantastic :DD
And for Splintered, well a good love triangle is always a plus! Too many love triangles are too cliched for my liking these days. Sappy stuff.
Great post as always Melanie! I do hope you’ll get around to reading all these fantastic novels on your list! <3

I have Splintered and Shadow and Bone but I haven’t read either yet. But I really need to read Second Chance Summer and the rest of my library books after I get a few ARCs out of the way.

  9. I loved Splintered, but I haven’t read the other ones yet either. A book that I really need to read that I have and have been meaning to is TFIOS. Oh and Eleanor and Park! Both have gotten such amazing reviews.

  11. Shelly says:

I read Splintered and Shadow and Bone and I must say that the hype is getting a little old. These books are both great novels but they are not the best books of their genre. I enjoyed Shadow and Bone but I found that the sequel was not worth the hype. I also need to read Golden and Under the Never Sky. One of my friends said that Under the Never Sky has a great plot and setting but the dull characters don’t suit it.
    Thanks for sharing 🙂

  12. I didn’t enjoy Shadow & Bone very much, which is awful because so many people have loved it! I think I’m one of the only anomalies, though!
Under the Never Sky is a favourite of mine, and I really want to read Splintered.

Hope you get round to some of these soon, Melanie!

  13. I’m really bad with keeping up with books sometimes, especially ones that are part of a series, so I’m sure there are TONS I need to read. From your list, Shadow and Bone has been on my list of things to read for awhile now. Hopefully we can both get to some of these titles!

  15. Ahh Shadow and Bone is a really great choice for fantasy lovers! The terminology is really hard to grasp at first, but after you do get it, you love it so much. Also, Under the Never Sky and Splintered were both five-star reads for me when I first read them, you must you must you must read them! UtNS DOES produce much gushing ;D I need to read Golden, too, though, haha I love the cover too!

    Fantastic post, Melanie! <33

I’ve actually read all the books on your list haha and they’re all quite good.
Me- I need to read Code Name Verity. And Gone Girl. Apparently they’re pretty amazing!

I need to read Shadow and Bone and Golden as well, Melanie! I’ve heard wonderful things and I have a copy (signed by the author!) of Golden, so there’s nothing holding me back there. I want to wait until the final book is out for Shadow & Bone so I can read one right after the other. I detest waiting and I forget details in between which is so frustrating. I loved Under the Never Sky and it’s sequel! It’s a must read. Although, scratch that it was HORRIBLE (not really, but I don’t want high expectations to ruin it after so much hype!)!! Lol! Can’t wait to see what you think. 🙂

I have Shadow and Bone, but I have yet to read it. I’m afraid to pick it up because I worry that I won’t like it as much as other readers have.

I really need to read A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I borrowed it from the library and I really should read that before anything.

I haven’t read all the books. But i hear about Shadow and Bone, maybe i will read this one. If i can find on my ebook. LOL!

  20. Sabeen says:

Shadow and Bone is AMAZING!!!I liked Splintered too, only the love interests weren’t really my type, so that took away some of the fun (*shrug*).
I really need to finish the Starcrossed and Unearthly series and get the next Elementals book. My to-read list is so humongous….
