midnight madness newsletter

This meme was created for YA Midnight Reads to showcase upcoming posts and hauls from over the past week.

Overall:

I’m on really good hiatus on not visiiting NetGalley or Edelweiss over this past fortnight. My review copies don’t really seem to be shrinking no matter how much I say so as I just checked my bloggy calender. Like hell is it packed. BUT. I have more time to read now!!!  School winter holidays began for me on Friday afternoon, and by the time you are all reading this post, I am at one of my best friend’s house (that I haven’t seen in more than a year… LE GASP) finally having a sleepover. WHOOPEEE FOR ME!
Book of the Week:
If I were to choose a book that I really really need to get off my TBR and under my read shelf, it’ll have to be Shadow and Bone. It’s everywhere, the hype is everywhere and the book itself has been haunting my dreams for months now. This week I chose this book simply because my goal by the end of winter, or your summer, spring, autumn whatever… I can proudly say that I have read a Leigh Bardugo novel. And if you haven’t even heard of this book, hurry and add to your TBR before I hunt you down with an axe.

For Review:
~A week of Aussie YA’s!~
Thanks to Text Publishing Australia, Pan Macmillan Australia, Hardie Grant Egmont Australia and Penguin Australia!
Life in Outer Space: The title and cover stood out to me amongst the sea of Aussie YA’s. and after hearing the several 4 and 5 star reviews, I just had to read this pretty.
The First Third: I’ve been little hesitant towards this novel after hearing some drama but now that that has been cleared, I shall go in with a fresh mind and enjoy the ride. Additionally, the print copy of this has a nice 3D cover texture. I keep on runniing my hands over it like I’m crazy. Wait… I am.
Kinslayer: I still have yet to read his first book but I feel like I’m going to love this. A high fantasy set in Japan. Whooo!
Zac and Mia: This one the 2012 Text Prize so it’s kinda been self made compulsory that I’ll read this book. Somehow, it reminds me of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Current Giveaways:

–  Highly Anticipated 2013 Sequels

Melanie your self control over requesting books is much better than mine, I’ve been quite good the last week and I’m actually on top of my review pile too! I hope you get to read loads of awesome books over your break! Also insanely jealous of your copy of Kinslayer, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! 🙂

  3. Ariella Lee says:

Ooh it’s Kinslayer! I DNFed the first book ’cause I couldn’t stand the paragraphs of descriptions. I hope you have better luck with it than I do!

  8. I was the same with Shadow and Bone. People kept pressuring me into reading it, but I resisted for some odd reason. Then I finally bought the audio and enjoyed it more than I can say.
