Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Hola, my name is Melanie and I am a 13 year old blogger from Melbourne, Australia. I have been blogging for nearly 6 months and I am loving the experience. The story of me getting into blogging is rather confusing- even I get confused and ponderous on how I ended up in the midst of this. Basically, this time last year, I detested reading (cue gasps) my mother forced me upon it, borrowing 10 books from the library each week, hoping I’d pick one up. Eventually, I got fed up and read one book from the endless pile that caught my eye, Evernight By Claudia Gray, I was caught in this magnificent world of paranormal and soon enough, by the time I finished the 3rd book, I was addicted. So when I couldn’t find the last installment, I went online and found Goodreads, from there on, I was borrowing books myself. Then how did you end up blogging? I found that the reviews on GR was extremely helpful pretty awesome, and for a 12 year old girl, I TALKED WAYY TOO MUCH. So instead of ranting my head off to my mother or school friends, I decided to make a blog. And… VIOLA! That was the birth of YA Midnight Reads.
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?
My favourite book that I have read this year can only go to The Book Thief By Markus Zusak, it’s heart breaking and beautiful at the same time. Still today, I can not stop thinking about it.
Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
1. Err… I’m really a crazy person that likes to start rolling on the floor and cry when I bored during class.
2. I’m extremely shy towards people who I don’t know, but interacting with bloggers isn’t as scary. So feel free to talk to me! ^,^
3. I’m addicted to My Little Pony. (Okay, this one is a little obvious but… STILL)
4. I worry too much, and over react too much- I believe I get it from my mother, except 10 times worse
And the list goes on….
Name your favorite blog(s) and explain why they are your favorite(s).
I hesitated before doing this. If you really want to know ALL the blogs I love, look on bottom of my left side-bar, they are all there. But I’ll say a few that I interact with a lot or just like to stalk in general. I won’t be able to include all my fav blogs (I wish) so here are the ones I started off with when I just started blogging.
Eileen’s blog was actually the first blog I EVER visited. I don’t even remember how but I clicked on some link and it took me to this vibrant looking blog. I used to read her blog silently, then started commenting and realised we had a lot in common! She is very crazy, nice and like me, a young blogger. She focusses of the YA and NA genre and also has quite a lot of posts to do with singing. She even sings covers, talk about bold! Anywho, if you haven’t already, visit her blog!
I met Stephanie before I even started blogging, she’s the magnificent moderator over at one of the Rick Riordan fan groups. So yeah, we had great arguments about Jason and Percy- who is better (clearly PERCY!) Steph is easy to talk to, relatable and most importantly, an AMAZING BLOGGY FRIEND and her blog is always a pleaure to visit. She reviews books in the YA genre and occasionally does vlogs! Go and stalk her!
I think Giselle’s blog is one of the best designed ones around. She also does designing for other bloggers and even hosts blog tours! I seriously don’t know where her time comes from but from what I can tell- she is very organsied. I love her reviews, they’re a mixed bag and are straight to the point. I usually always read her review first if I’m ever going to read a certain book. She focusses mainly on the YA genre but does have others like NA and adult which is nice to see.
What can I say? Amy’s blog just a joy to see. She does weekly vlogs (mostly) and they are my favourite ones to watch. Amy is a very sweet person and is just as crazy as anyone can be. I think her blog was the 2nd one to ever see and her blog was like something I’d look at as a reference to see if I was doing the right thing. This was especially the case when I had just began to blog.
The main reason why I want to move to WordPress is becuase of this blog and Ashley @ Nose Graze, I love the format of Jessi’s blog and how it’s so easy to navigate everywhere. Jessi originally blogged on blogger but soon made the move and encouraged everyone to move as well. Her motivation is rather contagious as I began to contemplate this issue. But I also love Auntie Spinelli Reads because, like other bloggers, she is fun to interact with.
What is your favorite part about the book blogging community?
The answer is crystal clear, to meet nerds just like oneself.
So that’s me. What about you loverlies?! Link me up to your post!
