WHAT IF YOUR WHOLE LIFE WAS A LIE?
Population: Human ... 7 billion.
Others ... unknown.
When 14-year-old Charlie Blake wakes up sweating and gasping for air in the middle of the night, he knows it is happening again. This time he witnesses a brutal murder. He's afraid to tell any one. No one would believe him ... because it was a dream. Just like the one he had four years ago - the day before his dad died.
Charlie doesn't know why this is happening. He would give any thing to have an ordinary life. The problem: he doesn't belong in the world he knows as home.
He belongs with the others.
After waking up from an unkempt nightmarish night, Charlie knows it’s happening again. Something terrible is about to happen, something to do with a brutal murder. But why should Charlie suspect such a despicable occurrence? Because the last time he had this type of dream was the night before his father left the world. And it is up to Charlie to stop this, the only way is to find the talisman…
Charlie is a unsure, yet independent young man. I adored this about him, what comes naturally from new authors in the typical frustrating jerk that suddenly falls in love and turns into some weird ‘good guy’. Fortunately, Alecia, the amazing writer she is, created an explosion, demolishing those stereotypical personalities that some authors create.
Saying that Talisman of El was action filled is an understatement, this book, reeks of it, never ending mysteries and combat, LOVE IT! While Charlie, Alex and Richard try to uncover the mystery of the murder, I found myself constantly gripping the book tightly, anticipating each word. Contrary to this, there were plot holes. Sometimes, I found many descriptions not relating to the scene, scenes jumping too quickly and some non-logical sequences. It took some time to adjust after a abrupt confusion, but other than that, the world building and plot line was original and so darn unique!
My, my, this romance is so little compared to other books yet…it is just as great as and maybe even better. Like they say, less is more. This saying really is to the fact in this Stone’s novel, the tension between Charlie, Alex and Oren? I loved it, this sort of mini love triangle was well depicted unlike others. And everyone hates bad love triangles. Right?
Overall, Alecia’s debut was a brilliant success and I am highly anticipating the gorgeous sequel. A light, but in depth read that will keep readers asking for more! Recommended to fantasy junkies like myself and people who just adore new, enticing reads.
